Runnign CNG in a gas mercedes
I am looking at the CNG kits for gas cars. They seem to be the simplest when used with a carb-ed car.
The problem is that you have to go back a few years to find a gas/carb Mercedes. If you attempt a gas/injected conversion you have to bypass the injector; in some cases completely disabling it. Would it even be possible to bypass the fuel injector in an older (1970-1990s) Mercedes. I'd kind of like to try a 1970-1971 280 SEL. Has anyone tried or considered this?

I had an W123 Euro 200 which had an LPG kit installed. I sold it to someone on this forum. Im not sure if he scraped it or kept it as he only bought it for the 5 speed.

years ago an old mate in England fitted LPG injection to his 280SE. it had more power and was cheaper to run . You can run both and on new cars you use the gasoline to start the car and it runs on gas for normal running.
it was an italian set up. they are very common in italy where they have gas LPG and CNG for decades in cars. new Zealand had CNG nearly 40 years ago as an experiment. i am not sure if it's still used in cars there. |

My 75 Jaguar XJ12C runs LPG, it would take some effort to convert it back to regular fuel.

you lose about 30% engine power with CNG and it also requires highly advanced ignition timing to fire off in the cylinders and give some push, The regulators are pretty easy to setup. It also makes the engine run hotter, but it burns extremely clean, so clean that it can also burn out your coked valve seats.
