Which car should I keep ? 220SE Coupe VS 250S Sedan
So here's my dilemma.
The W108 220S Sedan 2 Weeks ago I found a 1966 250S Sedan for sale and totally fell in love with it. I purchased it with little negotiation and now she's home. It's a '66 2-Tone Black with Silver roof and a Black interior. Positive: 1. Color Combination. - Love the 2 Tone Exterior and Black Interior 2. Automatic Tranny with Column mounted shifter 3. Freshly Rebuilt Engine with about 700 miles 4. Rebuilt Dual Zenith Carburetors and Synced by a Benz Mechanic 5. Freshly rebuilt Air Conditioning System 6. Interior is Great, Seats and Carpets, Window Seals just replaced with new 7. Power Windows, Locks and Remote Alarm I guess the few downsides to that car are: 1. Rear Axle needs resealed and all the bushings replaced in the rear. 2. Gas Mileage is what you would expect from a almost 50 years old Carbureted heavy car. And I need to be able to use that car as a commuter 3. Power Steering Pump is Leaking 4. Brake Hoses need replaced. 5. Missing the Becker Overall not a bad car ==================================== The W111 220SE I just got it today. White on Red The pros 1. It's a coupe. 2. Fuel injected. 3. White on red 4. 66 original miles 5. 4-speed manual transmission (love it) 6. Body and interior is in great condition. Negative Needs Clutch, Brake cylinder, Becker radio fixed and Clock. I know the coupe has a better value than the sedan. The coupe was twice the price of the sedan. What should i keep ? Here's a pic of the coupe And here's the Sedan |

both very nice cars. i would say based on the value alone you should commit to the coupe?

I'd keep the coupe - a much classier looking car in my opinion.

Couldn't see the pic of your sedan but our coupes are twins so I say go for the coupe. In 10-years time it will still be timeless, elegant and worth even more. Where are you located?
Sell the sedan (if you can only keep one) and use the money to fix the coupe, none of those are major issues, and your clock may just need cleaned. Most people think the fuse is blown but if you take it out and have a clock shop clean and oil it for you, it will likely be fine, I did mine myself.

The coupe does look nicer, but if the sedan was mine id feel bad selling it, because it would most likely end up scrapped within a couple years, and the coupe wouldn't.

Tough call. In general I like a W108 more than a W111, but manual>>automatic and fuel injection>carbs. Take one for a nice long drive. Wait a day. Then take the other one for a nice long drive. Wait another day and then try to make a decision.
What kind of bike is that in the garage?

both
You either need to keep both of them as daily drivers or sell both of them.
If you keep one as a daily driver, then you need the other vehicle to drive while the daily driver is down for repairs --- provided you do you own repairs.

Or even if you pay someone else to do the work - who was it who ended up having to drive a "courtessy" Smart car recently? I wouldn't wish that on anyone!

Thanks for the tips, I saw your thread about the clock and found lots of good info. I like to deal with major repairs first. So clutch and brake cylinder are priority. I realized the radio actually powers on, but there's no sound. And i found the speaker in the trunk. So it might just be a speaker connection issue. |

The bike is a 2011 Z1000 Kawasaki , has about 150hp and with me weights about 700lbs.. It's my daily commuter. I bought the Benz for the days when i don't feel like riding and no need to go fast. |

I have a bike for my daily routine. The benz is for trips on PCH and pictures with my family probably . I will also use the car for cooler days.

Oh, and if you really need a daily driver, sell the sedan and buy a Honda Fit and keep the coupe. |

I'd sell the bike and keep them both.

The bike gets 40mpg, 106$/year insurance, and let's me use the HOV lane on the 405/55/91 and split lanes in traffic. It's too good to be true..
So far only oil changes and chain lubes 11k miles in 7 months since new |

220SE vs. 250S
I vote for keeping both fine cars. Coupe worth more but the sedan very nice.
