w108 Becker radio, how to access aux input on the back

OK so i have a '73 w108 with a Becker Europa, and I got this adapter for the input that will let me plug in an ipod or other device with headphone jack. I'm wondering how to get the the rear of the radio. Does it need to come out or can i access it from under the dash, perhaps by removing that big panel under the dash?

Pull off the knobs.

Pull off the tone levers.

The face plate should pull off. Easy now....

You will see two large screws on either side of the radio. Unscrew them and the arms they go through will pull away from the face of the radio. Do not drop these as they are just floating in there. Remove them through holes in the front of the radio.

Pull the radio out of the car. It will be connected by wires and perhaps a grounding strap.

The aux port at the back is a round plug with several pins. It was made to accept a shortwave tuner or a Becker cassette player.

You might want to check out the Becker site at Becker Autosound Website before doing this.

Becker will either place a minijack on the front face face near the left knob (drill through face), or supply a minijack adapter with an extension cable and 7(?) pin plug. The minijack can be adhered or screwed in to a remote location, and this plugs straight in to the old LW/MW round connector on the back. (it is self evident)

Post a picture of what you have, it is likely the same as what they sent me.

Yes, it is plug and play if you want the remote minijack, or soldered-in if you decide to go the drilled-front-face route.
