w108 becker europa tape deck

So i ordered a bunch of cassettes on ebay, but i cant seem to figure this thing out. I put the tape in, a few seconds later it shoots the tape out. Is it user error or is something wrong? i tried flipping it over and a few other tapes too, no luck. One tape actually played for two seconds.

As far as i remember, the tape is ejected when it gets to the end of it. So if it feels the resistance it will eject. You probably have a weak motor in the tape mechanism.

If that deck hasn't been in use for a long time, you might get in touch w Becker about getting it serviced. Motors get dirty, rollers dry out and get crappy, etc. I know their office in NJ services old units. Check their website:

I can give you the phone number of someone in Hollywood that fixes them.
Mine powers on but has no sound. I'm in the process of removing it.
By the way, Mercedes Classic Center offered his phone number + the phone number of Becker. It may be worth it to call them both.
I sure will call them both after i confirm that it's not just a loose wire in the back

Any chance those tapes are Country music? If so, then the auto eject seems to be working fine. There is also a Hip Hop add on feature so the auto eject works on them too

If you do send it in to Becker you can get an input jack retrofitted. Perfect for iPods, iPhones, Androids, etc to input directly to the stereo & play from your collection. You can get it on the front or in the back and route it into the glovebox.

Solved my problem with the becker. Burned fuse on top of the unit. I have the slim version. They only used them in coupes and convertibles. However it takes a min to warm up and produce sound.
But this is what i ended up with in my search for that becker europa tg slim.

What really kills these are the belts, and the rubber rollers (the capstan). They all have to be replaced or it won't work. If they never were replaced I guarantee that they have turned to gum or dust. I'm fairly experienced repairing this kind of equipment and I would say that I would leave this to people who do it all of the time. I did!
