Car #1 is a customer's 1968 200D that I put these seals in for the previous owner in 2005 to stop windshield seal leaks. I just removed both windows last Fall to install a headliner. There are no signs of any leaks, nor any signs of damage. Car #2 is a 1972 280SEL. I installed a Uro front window seal in it in 2009. I just replaced the windshield because it got cracked. Again, absolutely no issues. I live in the rainy part of Oregon, and so do both cars. Again, I'm not saying all Uro parts are great. This thread was about windshield seals, and, so far, after extensive use of them, I've seen no issues.

I'm hardly a Meister, but thanks for the compliment... I think. I'm really just a guy making a living. At least I don't openly refer to myself as a "honcho" or, God forbid- Kreisleiter- with all the negative connotations associated with that term. I'm rather disturbed that you find it necessary to refer to yourself that way on your site you linked to. That tells me way more than I really needed- or wanted- to know.

And I'm disturbed that you would willingly install known, sub-standard parts on your customers' cars. That tells me way more than I really needed- or wanted- to know.

Sorry that my opinion on window seals based upon extensive actual hands- on experience didn't jibe with your pre-conceived agenda.

Anyone who knowingly buys and installs Uro (or APA, or FEQ) parts deserves whatever the consequences are. If there is worse junk on the market, I'm not aware of it (although there are a couple mfrs, like Dorman or HamburgTech, that come close)...

Ok folks, I think we get the gist of it and can end the pissing match over this company's quality or lack thereof.
Note to all who may arrive in this thread: In any industry, there is a (wide) range of suppliers and quality. It has been determined that this company's products are generally regarded as crap, however, in some cases, their products, specifically windshield seals, may be installed with no problem at all. YMMV. Your skills may vary. Your wallet thickness may vary. It is all variable. Don't come back asking if these winshield rubber products are good or crap, just go back to post 1, read on for yourself, and take your chances. If you don't want to take your chances with the cheapest stuff, find *another aftermarket manufacturer* of that part, or call Tom Hanson at the Classic Center for the better quality (factory vetted) items. Nuff said, now let's all get back to *****ing about something else... Sorry, it was just getting pedantic, and I've gotten tons of useful info from all of you guys, so let's move on...

That's good news and I hope the seal lasts many happy (and dry) years. Sounds like you have excellent window seal installation skills -- did Master Tram teach you the esoteric techniques on how to install & seat the URO seal?

So far everyone raving about Uro has liked the price and "fitment". I wonder what they'll think after the part has been in use for a few years.
Here's a photo of a Uro flex disc that failed in less than one year. It's sad that anyone is willing to keep them in business. Great kwality, eh? |

They should. But as long as people keep buying Uro, they will keep selling it. All you can do is vote with your wallet and "just say NO to You Are Oh".

Just have to share this "news"...
As if owning a Jaguar isn't bad enough, with their legendary "reliability" from the factory, guess who are now their OEM parts supplier... Show News Quote:
