Roadtrip!!

I will keep the story short. A good friend of mine currently lives in Wisconsin. Himself and his family came down to visit his parents in Nebraska. He let me know the plans and off I went. Went from the mountains of Colorado to the plains of Nebraska. I had a great time, plus it was fun to put longer miles on the old girl. She is rough to look at but I love this little car. She is a rolling/daily driver project. Hope you enjoy the pics!

Heading East!!

Stop by an old town I went to school at for a few years!

Further eastward

Look a town!

Made it to the State line, had to take the picture!

I know I am getting close to my friends place, now what dirt road is the correct one?

Almost back home after a great weekend!

Very cool!! That 220D will take you anywhere and everywhere you should ever need to go, they were great cars.

Good luck on your restoration, keep us updated with pics as you progress.

Is that a Yakima rack? If so, what towers are those?

That is so cool!!!!!!!! I love your 220!! haha that thing is such a little trooper, seeing the pictures makes me want to take mine on a trip real bad! She's not tough to look at, in fact for me, I like that look because it looks like it's been used, traveled, seen a lot and it just gives it personality. I'd almost want a 220 like that because if I took her off road, I wouldn't be afraid of a branch scratching the paint or a rock hitting and denting something, it's just another added trophy haha

I can't see past the crack

Needs more photos......great post, always like to see these car driven and I am sorry but I like the beat up ones better....they show history, what fun is a polished up turd....someone on the for sale section actually said they prefer a detailed car then a mechanically perfect car....I like the stories they can tell....I think that is why I don't ever want my 300d to be a garage queen I want her mechanically sound because I want to know I can take her anywhere and on any dirt roads! I want her to show her battle scares with pride....as I do! We must remember they are only original once...

Oh and this is a dirt road

If you enjoy the drive, who cares what it looks like. I drove across southern Nebraska on a road trip many years ago and was decidedly unimpressed, glad your impression was better.

It's nice to see people caring enough about their old Mercedes to keep them in this kind of mechanical condition. I drove my 200D up through the Utah mountains at about 7,000 feet before I had my injectors and pump serviced, and boy, did I have a coating of soot on my trunk when I got back!
