A set of Vintage MB Wheels in my neighborhood

Hello,

Does anyone know what these are? Would they fit my 1970 280S? They are 14in rims.

Thanks,

Miguel

Probably, depends on how wide they are and what the offset is.

They indicate 4x5.5. I dont see anything about an ET number to determine offset.

That would be 14 x 5.5 I bet.

They look like standard bundts that have been crackle painted on the inside and the ribs surfaced and polished., to me.

It is an interesting look which will not hurt the wheel performance but are an "aquired" taste.

If you like them they are worth whatever you want to pay. If you can weigh them and they are around 10# then I would have interest. Is the outer part of the rim polished?

Those are not stock MB wheels- and if they are they are modified bundts which make them worth less than a good stock set. They are worth what ever you can sell them for which could be a few bucks or as high as $400- my money is on the few bucks side.

I don't think those are modified originals but rather aftermarket wheels. Not a big deal really, and the uniqueness of the design may look cool on your car depending on the color. You could also paint them in an alloy color to look more like factory, tho the shape will never be quite right.

Those are pretty cool!, I'd love to know if they are actually 14's or 390 mm TRX wheels. i have never seen any like that before and i'd bet there are guys in Germany who would love them. What is the distance from the inner mount face to the outside edge of the inner rim? I'd think they were for a 107 of the late 70's or early 80's.

I asked in Germany and got this answer.

Quote:
Yes,

theese are aftersales wheels. The colour style was often driven in the netherlands or the UK because there were cars often coloured in silver with a darker roof.... it seems theese countries liked this style.

If I am rite this special wheels are not allowed for Germany, they do not have a KBA registration...

Best whishes Jörg
