Gee, if you only had the body fiche, you wouldn't have to ask.

Call/visit your local library. All of the ones around here have reader/printers.

Have you tried asking your local Mercedes parts department?
Love your shiny 'new' car!

Happy Motoring,

I wanted to kmow the part number before I asked the local dealer. So I know if you can still buy it or not. I was thinking the same battery tray that went in my 280 would be the same for my 250. What do you think?

According to Chuck ('C Taylor' on this forum) who owns both a 250 and a 280, the battery trays are on opposite sides of the engine compartment - not interchangeable.
My local Mercedes dealer has been very helpful to me in the past. Even if they don't have a part they will give me the part number so I can decide to try and order it or find it somewhere else. Is your local dealer more reluctant to help you out?

Happy Motoring,
Mark

According to my book the "Battery Frame" is 115 620 01 58. I think tha it is welded to the frame on the 250.

I guess I don't understand your reluctance to call the dealer and say "I need a battery tray for a 1972 250." That's what parts departments are there for. If your dealer is asking you for a part number, find a different dealer.

Also, the small "glove box" parts books are very helpful and available on e-Bay for less than 15 bucks.

Thanks for the information. I have ordered many things from the dealer and for some reason the dealer say you can the items then they say you can't.

I have the parts book that came with the car but there is no part numbers in the book. Is this a differnet parts book?

I looked up 115 620 01 58 and it says it is a battery support.

I was thinking that it was 115 620 02 18, but this is guess.

For every car, there are two books, the glovebox one only has pictures, the dealer's book has the same pictures, but also pages of part numbers. The fiche are images from the dealer's books.

Interesting Charles. As you know, I've taken the trip to the public library and have been in the market for a fiche reader but $70 a la evis is a bit steep for me. I never see a dealer parts book for the 280SE/111. Know where I could find one?

TIA

Peter Kaufman

I have a Mercedes dealer parts book for the automatic trans, circa 1972, that I found in a used-book store in Frederick, Maryland.
Should be even more / bigger used-book stores in the L.A. area or maybe try online?

Happy Motoring,
Mark
