Rebuilt cost of 114 engine?

I 'm still debating on purchasing a 72 250C that is pretty except for the engine . Lady's daughter ran it out out oil. I've checked about used engines and there's not much out there except old used engines. Any estimate on a DYI Engine rebuild on a 114 Engine. I heard that it wasn't wise to bore out for new pistons on these blocks.

Regards,

It's rebuildable. It's far easier to get another engine though. There are plenty around.

You can replace it with ANY benz straight 6, younger or older if you're not worried about originality. If the car is an automatic, swap out the transmission too if you're changing engine types.

If you're doing your own work, it's easy. If you're paying somebody else to do it, it's still inexpensive compared to rebuilding the old motor.

Ditto. Makes no sense economically to go for a full rebuild. Keep looking.

But if you are so determined, Metric Motors is the place to go:
