Lee and I were at the Amelia Island Concours last weekend. It was fantastic! We've attended this event for 3 years now and it just keeps getting better and better. We'll do a feature on it soon.
Several vintage Mercedes owners we met at Amelia were excited to hear about MercedesShop and asked if we could create a special forum dedicated to the discussion of vintage Mercedes. So...here it is! This is a place where anyone can discuss mercedes models that are at least 25 years old. If this forum really takes off we will subdivide it into segments by decade or chassis to make it easier. If anyone would like to volunteer to moderate this forum please send me an e-mail. In the mean time, I will attempt to moderate it although admittedly my knowledge is limited in this area. ------------------ Bill Wood - Webmaster MercedesShop.com, LLC |

Delighted to see this forum. I have a restored '59 220SE Coupe (128) and enjoy the camaraderie.

Steve-
The moderator has several functions: 1)Make sure there's no unacceptable language 2)Try to keep posts in the forum within the topic of the forum. ie- there shouldn't be any posts regarding the 2000 S-Class in the Vintage Mercedes forum. Just steer people back on track or toward the correct forum. 3) Try to make sure all questions get an answer from someone. 4) Try to prevent flame wars and non-productive discussions that waste bandwidth. Overall, just keep the peace and make the forum a pleasant and informative place for all to visit. ------------------ Bill Wood - Webmaster MercedesShop.com, LLC |

Hi All,
I'm pleased to see this section was created, and look forward to reading about everyone's nice old mbz's! I myself have a '59 190sl and a '66 250S, and have been coveting 300 sel's and 220S for some time now. Which models do the rest of you have? Eric [This message has been edited by EricH (edited 03-16-2000).] |

I was likewise at Amelia Island. Great show. The addition of a vintage forum is a welcome addition.

Eric Eric, I currently have one car that qualifies for this forum, a '72 350SL 4.5. It is in class 3 condition, but new paint and carpet should get it to class 2. I used to have a '37 type 230 limo (see Hack's page), but it has been in pieces at a restorer for almost 3 years now and I don't think it will ever be a car again. Does anyone on this list need pre war type 230 parts? I may have them. You can forget body parts though, the car was a Sindlefingen one off and the body is different. |
