What exactly is this called (behind Bundt cake alloys)?
Hello all,
Was looking at my spare and found this attached pretty hard behind the wheel, in between that and the mounting surface on the trunk. Did all Bundt cake wheels have these from the factory? Is there a name for them or a part number? Thanks in advance! http://i.imgur.com/h1Ss3Tt.jpg?1 |
looks like one of those dust cover wheel things, supposed to keep your wheels clean from the brake dust. probably not OEM
|
It is a dust shield. My SDL had them behind the wheels. I removed them to allow more cooling air into the brakes.

Yes to what LUVMB
... said. My 77 w116 has those in the front. I think they are OEM |
Brake Heaters (NOT in a Good Way)
"Dust Covers" which impede the proper Air Flow to the Brakes.
THROW THEM AWAY!!! If y'all doan wanna wash the wheels, get Akibono Ceramic Pads. |
Thank you guys!

some people like em , some dont, I used them on my SD
Sell em on ebay someone will buy them |
I dont think they were factory parts, they are branded as kleen wheels and all they do is impede airflow - You need airflow from the inside out to cool down the wheels. The wheel is a heatsink for the brake.
