W108 Window Wood
My W108 is missing the wood around the windows and I saw this ebay listing. I have a couple of pieces of the original window wood for the front window. Are these legit, they look like someone went to Home Depot and cut some trim molding and stained/clear coated it.

They look legit to me and I already purchased both long ones for the rear doors. Mine were water damaged and this was like heaven sent.
Maybe they are expensive, but so far I've been only thinking about how to get them or fabricate them .. for more than 5 months!!!

Yes. Look at other items of the seller.
I just purchased yesterday as soon as it was published. Can't confirm if they are legit, but per his description they are.

I can remember shopping for this car when they were new. These look like the original thing to me.
And I remember these rather clearly since it seemed Mercedes was just trying to hold on to former customers who expected such things. After all, this was the norm for Mercedes from the earlier times and Rolls-Royce still had them, so customers expected them in this price class. The big deal was 'No paint shall show through on the door frame or door interior'. And oddly enough these also acted as sound insulation and not just trim. |

Please post your opinion of them when you receive the wood trim. I wonder if they will come with the screws.

Mexican post is terrible. It doesn't mention anything about screws, do you need them? Maybe I can take a picture of mine..

Yes, screws hold the wood to the door frame. They come with a washer that matches the shape of the screw.

As Larry mentioned, they're shaped to the screw. Think of a cup or a bowl with a hole through the center for the screw.

Should I be harvesting good wood from junkyard cars? I have two of the front wood bows in good condition for early 108s.... Haven't been saving window wood...

Sure, I can see people paying for complete sets that aren't water-damaged. Grab the little screws/ washers as well.
