W114 Indicators set off Gen/Battery light.
So my 280C sets off the Gen. warning light when the indicators are on. This only happens when stopped, and grows in brightness as I slow down. And since my battery was dead a few nights ago. I'm assuming this is an alternator issue, need to borrow or buy a voltmeter so I can see what's going on. Could this be anything else? going to check Alternator belt, Voltage regulator, and wiring. My right rear power window just died so I know my fuses are good since I checked all of them.

I would pull the alt and take it to an AutoZone or the like to have it tested. It sounds as if either it has gone or the voltage regulator has, but a free test on their test bench should show the trouble.
If the car can be driven there they can usually test it right on the car. It just depends on if they have a handheld device capable of doing the tests. Sometimes they can tell if your alternator is good and then pinpoint what is causing the trouble. I once drove through some higher water in a 123 280E which has the alt located down low. The water shorted everything out and I was showing the same signals as you are now. |
