1979 450SL Fuel Pressure Regulator Vacuum Line

Hello all, I just purchased this 79 450SL and I am trying to work the kinks out of it..Noticed a few lines disconnected..There is a vacuum line that goes to what I believe to be the fuel pressure regulator but I dont know where it originates from...can anybody help? There is a 3 inch section of vac line coming from the regulator nipple but it goes to nowhere..I tried to include the pic but I dont know how to resize it...Is there a reason that anyone knows why someone would purposely disconnect this line on this car? Thanks for any and all help...

You can eliminate a vac connection to the fuel pressure regulator right off the top; there is none. The FPR is contained in the fuel distributor, and has no vac connection. If what you are looking at is a rectangular device mounted towards the front of the engine, with two small diameter steel lines connected to it, it is the warm up regulator (WUR), and there should be at least one and perhaps two vac lines connected.

Please tell us what area of the car you are working on. The engine? The fuel pump package under the back of the car? Narrow the focus.

In your second thumbnail, the WUR, as identified above, has a vacuum connection that should be connected to the intake manifold to supply a pressure (vacuum) signal for load enrichment. As currently arranged it is operating continuously in full enrichment mode.

The first pic shows a vacuum operated fuel return check valve from the fuel distributor. Step back a little and take a pic that shows the other end of the small steel fuel line as well as the end on the check valve. It also would be connected to manifold pressure (vacuum).

1979 450SL Fuel Pressure Regulator Vacuum Line

Thanks for all your help..So if I take both of these lines and tee off of source of manifold vacuum I should be ok? I checked the vacuum line going to the distributor vacuum advance and dont feel any vacuum at idle..Is that normal, maybe it uses ported vacuum? I have a few bugs to work out in this car..thanks for your time guys..

1979 450SL Fuel Pressure Regulator Vacuum Line

I put manifold vacuum to that hose on the WUR and it started running better immediately..I have to tee off of another one to put vacuum to that ful injection check valve next..I also came across another line that was disconnected..if anyone has any ideas where that one goes..It is one of two hoses connected to a solenoid looking thing under the expansion tank..The one in question has a black stripe. It goes from the solenoid thing on the passenger side all the way across near the drivers side fender near the egr vavle and then is left unplugged on the drivers side..In the picture it is the bottom one of the two lines pictured on the left side of the picture..Thanks for the help and patience with me..I dont know much about these cars..so some questions may seem dumb but how can i learn if i dont ask questions
