An SE works just fine for me right now. When I'm (just) a little older and have a pair of Scandinavian mistresses that are 6'2" and riding in the back, I'll get an SEL.

>But it's not an SE(L). I know that it does not make much of a difference, but I really like the SEL's. I would not consider buying an SE.
Interesting. When I was shopping for a w108 I thought I wanted a SE, because it's lighter (like it makes a difference LOL), easier to park etc. But now that I ended up with a SEL I am very happy with it. I can put a lot of large things in the rear in front of the seat and if I scoot the passenger seat forward a bit my 5 yo can't kick it's seatback! Plus if we are parked he can just about play soccer back there :-)

I'm afraid to post this, Al might be tempted to grab it!
1969 Mercedes 280SEL set up for 351 Windsor I swear Al, I'm not trying to feed your addiction more! 1971 280sel mercedes benz..mechanic special.. Now that's one hell of a deal, IMO. Even if more than just the head gasket is bad, it looks to be rust free and what little I can see of the MBTex shows it's in good shape.

That thing is probably a fireball. I bet if properly set up, it will smoke a 6.3. No need to worry about me snagging it. I'm just about to finalize a deal on a 3.5 which will keep me content for while. Pushing those 6.3's in and out of my garage was just not doing it for me

So are you trading the 6.3 for the 3.5 or something? Or are you still keeping them and just pushing them to the back for now
I wish I had a garage to get the car I want and work on it. But that's probably 18-20 years down the road now

I have two 6.3's. If the deal closes on the 3.5, I will probably dismantle one of the 6.3's and use it to make 1 nice 6.3 and 1 nice 3.5.

I believe there is a dig difference between the SE and SEL. The extra length and weight contribute to a more stable and smoother ride. Most importantly the extra room providers for a more comfortable ride for the back seat passengers.
I would rather have a SEL over my 111 coupe or even a 111 convertible.

Feel free to leave the leftover 6.3 engine in my driveway :-)

I have cast iron 3.5 parts if needed. I have seen a lot of W108's here in the Midwest, in the range of 1500-2000. Not many SEL's, and certainly no W109's. mostly 6's, I had an SEL parts car briefly, the thing was waaay too much car, just too long.
