78 450 SL update - starting problem
For those of you kind enough to reply to the previous thread and anyone else. This diesel guy got tangled up with a gas job helping a neighbor who bought a 450 SL at an estate auction. Car is pristine but sat for 8 yrs. In tank fuel filter, line coming out and fuel pump plugged with shellac/rust. Put new filters, lines, pump on. Flushed other metal lines. Pulled injectors and cleaned them out with my diesel injector tester. Bled injectors as I would on a diesel. No start. Sprayed a touch of ether in, started then quit. When I crank it almost seems like it wants to start but won't. This is a mechanical injection system. Is there some trick or procedure I should know to get this started?

Previously you said it was a 74 450SL. Was that incorrect or is this a different car? If it is a 78, there is are some links on BW 107 site in stickies that might help diagnosing your problem.
