Mint's Rally Car Update

It will be a year this coming December when we decided a Fintail would be our first Rally Car project. The thought isn't unique. The editors of Classic Motorsports and Bringatrailer had the idea before us. But we've never owned a Mercedes and there is no better way to get to know a brand than owning one. We had lots of mechanical frustrations during the first 4 months. Then it was down to just a nasty miss, always in the same spot. Turned out to be a worn distributor. Once a new 123ingnition was installed it has been clear sailing. We've driven it over 5,000 miles so far and have participated in some amazing shows and local rallies. Our latest triumph? How about an upcoming spread in Hemmings Classic and Exotic magazine. The Fintail is a blast to drive, and a huge attention getter. We are considering a set of Blizzacks for the winter...if they come in 13" diameter. Below, a before and after.

I've been following your Fintail project... good job, looks great and lots of helpful information as well. I own a 68 W110 230, I can relate! They are enjoyable cars to drive and just tinker on. I look forward to seeing your car in Hemmings, congratulations!

Very cool car, enjoy it as much as you can. I would never be able to resist driving something like that 24/7.

Cool update. Sounds like things are going well!

If you were closer, I have a set of 14" steelies from my 108 that are available for free.

Or you could just come pick them up in person...
