This is offensive and rude to the owner of this car.

Haha, the plywood starter reminds me of my brother's project car. We had to drive over plywood, then a 2x4, then we could get the jack under

I'd slap a 1/4" skiplate on it and some air bags. You definitely don't want to starve oil on a diesel.

I think it looks good though

Personally, I think it is great that you are keeping that w115 on the road. Your car gets infinitely more attention than my own, so kudos to you. Engine swaps are part of owning an old car, and you have every right to swap in any engine you can get to fit. Hopefully we can avoid any "hate" in the technical forums and leave that for Open Discussion. Thanks for keeping us posted.

No hate here, Bro. I'd love to have an MB 4-door of that vintage that ran......

I learned to drive in a new '69 220D my folks owned.

Whatcha got there as a new powerplant? The valve covers look like the covers on my '02 Ford 7.3 liter PSD, but that's a gasser of a big-block V8 something?

Actually, I had an '82 'beater' W123 240D with a very tired engine I considered dropping a small-block Ford V8 into. The Ford engine probably weighs less than the original diesel 4. BUT -
I wonder how the rear-end drivetrain on these cars will stand up to the extra power.
And on the W115, there are a pair of diagonal braces coming off the firewall that will probably need to 'go away'. I wonder how critical those are, considering that extra power.

Happy Motoring, Mark

I don't think those diagonal braces are too critical, because I believe they are removed in some (all?) of the w114 6 cylinder cars.

You must have smooth roads where you drive. I was given a W114 280 E 10 years ago which had those hitachi springs too. It was undriveable and got stuck in my driveway....
I fitted stock W115 200 gas springs in it which lifted it slightly but made it legal and useable . A ford into a W1`15 isn't a new thing,it's been done plenty of times before and works well because the oil pan is in the right place and it's very narrow. Not much of a power boost over 240 D though....

I've owned three W114s - two coupes and one sedan with the M130 single-cam six - and they all had those braces. It might be a good idea to try and research the reason for them before cutting.
