Fixed the Transmission Leak & Drive Shaft Support w114/w115

Today was a big day for the '69 220 - I have been wanting to fix a leaking transmission and replace one of the two center drive shaft supports - Done.

My transmission has been staining the driveway for the past year and thought it was time to tackle it. I have a standard and the 3 shift levers leaked where they exit the side of the transmission. I called the Classic Center and got the needle bearing, and new o-rings, along with a new paper gasket. (Pelican Parts suggested I call them direct. Can't say enough about the service, Woody helped me out and had parts in my hand within the week.) Was a pretty straight forward job, and no leaks!!

The center drive shaft support/bearing swap went well - thanks to the past threads on the effort, no surprises, just time consuming. Since I have the w115 (4cyl Gas) I have the 3 piece drive shaft, only one of the two was needing replacement. I took the opportunity to degrease the transmission support and misc. parts including the entire drive shaft assembly while I had it out of the car.

With that chore done I can set me sights on some other less daunting tasks, like some new shocks! Also I found that the clutch slave cylinder has one ear of the mount cracked! I just replaced that a year ago, can't believe that happened! I got a new one from Pelican for under $30 - I better get that replaced soon - ran out of light and stem this weekend.

Hope you all had a good weekend too.

Cool. I love it when a plan comes together.

The transmission support was still serviceable? Might have been a good time to swap in a new one.

Surprisingly the transmission mount was ok, I was ready to order one too if need be. Someone must have replaced at some point. I have to say though, getting access to the top nut of the transmission mount looks crazy tight . .

Yes, my comment when finished was, "I love it when it works", and, "what's wrong with Das Benz . . . It's not leaking oil in the driveway?"

The oil is just looking for a new way out

If I recall and don't quote me, you have to loosen the cross support where the mount is and while supporting it, let it come down a touch to get in there.
