280SEL fuel pump circuit

my trusty 4.5 that I got on ebay 2 weeks ago ($1075, interior like new, body some rust, engine very strong once control unit was turned down from fully rich) died. The fuel pump doesnt hum when you turn the key on, there is no 1 sec of voltage at the fuel pump when you turn the key on. I have another 4.5, took the relay that clicked, then clicked again after 1 sec (this was located under the control unit, this a relay or just timing unit?), swapped it, still nothing, no buzz for 1 second. The neg wire to the fuel pump (while disconnected) shows continuity to ground, the pos wire shows no short to ground. Is there another relay? I find it hard to believe I have a break in a wire, the way they are all bundled together, but its possible I guess. Yes I replaced the fuse...
And ideas would be greatly appreciated, its like having a sick child and now knowing whats wrong...

According to my wiring diagram there is only one pump relay. If you have power at the relay( #41 on my chart) and none at the pump, run a new wire of the same gauge or larger to the pump, Fast and ugly ( no cutting, no threading, like an extension cord, point A to B, out the door and to the pump) to see if it solves your problem. If it does, do it properly.

fuel pump fixed

It was the small wire going to the positive of the battery, the poor brain wasnt getting the voltage it needed to tell the relay to come on, look at the simple things first I guess Thanks for the reply, I was going to try that next. Love the car! (my 3rd 4.5)
