W108 Wiring Harness
I picked up a project car that has spent it life baking in the heat. The wires are brittle, the insulation has come off at bends in the wiring and there are a buch of broken connectors. I had emailed Tom at MB Classic Center and he suggested Rhode Island Wire Harness. They dont list the 108 chassis on the site but they do list the 280SE coupe/cabrio which I would assume has similar wiring needs (lengths and type). The "problem" is that the main harness is over $2k and that doesnt even included the $800+ fuel injection harness.
I would need to send my original harness for them to create one as it requires the use of the original connectors. I can see if Tom can still get all the different connectors as I see some on my harness that may not be reusable.... LINK --> Rhode Island Wiring Service Inc. Below was copied from the website... MERCEDES BENZ 280SE-3.5 111 Chassis [USA Models] [production start- 1970] Note: all connector plugs must be reused from original harness 1. Dash, Engine, and Headlight Harness 2207.00 2. Starter Harness 41.00 3. Starter Lock-out / Reverse Light Sw. Conn. Harn. 51.00 4. Transistorized Ignition Harness 73.00 5. Fuel Injection Control Harness 838.00 6. Power Window Control Harness [coupe/conv.] 534.00 7. Positive Battery Cable 48.00 I really want to restore the Benz, but this is eating into my budget. I know everyone said a cheap Mercedes is the most expensive one to buy.... I can really see it now.... Does anyone else have a source for a new harness or to rework my original for a reasonable amount?
