There was a SWB and LWB W112 sedan???

In the 6th paragraph down on this page is states there was a 100mm LWB version of the W112 sedan, I haven't heard this before, accurate? Any pics side by side, and were they simply stretched at the back door as is common on LWB cars or is this more of a "formal limousine" type setup?

Yes, they were stretched at the rear doors as is common on LWB.

Yeah, same deal as the W116 and W126 sedans; you had the L designation that meant it was 10cm or whatever longer at the rear doors (450SE vs 450SEL, etc.).

Thank you for the detailed info! I had an old LWB Jaguar and know of many others but didn't know about these. Were they sold in the US? Nice notice on the chrome, good way to recognize one if that's a tell-tale.

I think the 450SE is a rather rare thing in the US. They were imported during the early years but I think they were quickly dropped as no one was buying them. The only 116 short WB I have ever seen was a 1973 model.

W112 300SE L are as rare as chicken lips.
Jaguar made a few S1 XJ6 and XJ12L towards the end of their production run. For S2 cars, all US bound cars were long wheelbase and there was only one size for the S3 cars which matched the L version of the earlier cars.

Only 1.546 units of the 112.015 were produced between (pre-production from 12/1962) 03/1963 - 08/1965.

As I know, 450 SE (and 116s SWB as a whole) were available in the US during all time of production of the w116.
280 S - 1975-76
280 SE - 1977-1980
300 SD - 1978-1980
450 SE - 1973-80

The really rare 300SE langs are the right hand drive versions. There were 14 buil and over the years i have seen four here in Australia and two in England .
The interior of the LWB version is incredibly plush with wood window moldings ,the caps on the panels have inlays. Even behind the rear at on the parcel shelp there is a varnished wood trim . Chris Johnson In US had a few of them listed on his old site 300SE.org.
Here is a RHD LWB that the new owner just inherited from his grandfather.

Mine was an 1976 S2 and badged as an XJ6L, but why would they not simply designate it as an XJ6 if that was the only option? I recall it was 4" stretch at the rear doors, made it a great car for a group. Thanks, appreciate the info.

It must have had a back seat very like my living room couch: self-designed specifically for one man and two women.

PS: your email brought me back to life and paying attention to the 108 again.
