Anybody recognize this?

I just finished the first of a new series of paintings of vintage Benzes. Unfortunately, when I took the photo I used as a reference, I didn't write down the year or model of this car. Anybody recognize it?

Looks like an early 1950s 300 series.

Thanks. I've had a couple of other people suggest it is a late fifties 220SE.

I have several more of these in the works, most of which are more easily identified.

The 220SE had a 13" wheel. Your painting is clearly a 15" wheel.

Certainly looks like a 300, up version c, the 300d had a different front fender profile and wheel trim.

Thanks, Jim. Good observation. I have some reference books here somewhere. I'll check and see if I can confirm that.

Painting, hobby or profession?

Jim

Painting is a hobbie that is beginning to look like it may become a new career.

Here's my most recent painting, a 560 SEC.

I should mention that the first picture (above) shows the car with the hood up, as I photographed it at a car show. So, the fender but not the side of hood is shown.
