Does a running 1973 M110 engine have any value to anyone?
Hi-
Based on some suggestions in the following thread, I decided to buy a 1973 280 w114 today: Complicated vehicle purchase: advice needed. The engine runs fine, but I don't plan to keep this vehicle operational. As suggested in that thread, this cars overdue reg fees are high enough to make it not worth ever registering. The parts I want off it will also leave it in pretty bad condition (I plan to take the interior, floor panels, transmission etc.) so I am just trying to figure out what to do with the rest of it. Specifically, does a carbureted m110 engine have any value to anyone? I live about 3 hours from either SF or LA, so I could probably get it to those locations if need be. But I am not really interested in shipping it far. I have no capacity to store it at my house (no garage), so basically, it either needs to be sold, be given away, or be thrown out. I would appreciate any advice as to the best way to ensure that this decent engine doesn't just get melted down, but without requiring a huge amount of my time. Thanks for any suggestions.

I'd post this in the "Parts" section of this forum. The 1973 M110 engine produced about 130 bhp vs. 120 bhp or less in the later carbureted engines. If it's running fairly well someone in California or elsewhere should be interested in taking it off your hands

Hi Tim-
Thanks for the reply. I purposely didn't put it in the for sale section simply because I don't have a price or even have the engine out of the car. I never like the for sale ads which don't list a price and I was mostly looking for advice. I just acquired the car and am just trying to decide what to do with it all. Your efforts to sell the parts from your w114 have actually dissuaded me from trying to make much money on any of it. You are quite vigilant at keeping your ad current and available, and I probably don't have that much patience, organization, time, etc. etc. etc. If nobody sees this thread, I will probably start a new one in the for sale section in a few days. Thanks again.
