Manual window crank removal W108
Can anyone tell me how I remove the manual window crank from the door panel?
Once I removed the little trim piece on the top of the crank I was hoping to find a screw to just unscrew...no luck. How do I get this thing off, yank on it and pray?

If your crank handle doesn't have a screw, then the trim acts like a clip, as it slides over a groove on the end of the regulator shaft. You can usually push the trim/clip off by pushing on the tab on the backside of the crank handle. Since you said the trim is already off, then I assume the crank handle should slide off of the shaft.

It should, but it should slide right off no problem, unless it's really corroded or the splines are chewed up. If you see the end of the shaft and it's clear, then you should be able to just pull or pry it off. If you want to send a picture, it would help.

If your crank insert has a captive portion of the insert that goes over a stud on the crank shaft, that is all that is holding the crank in place. Otherwise your crank has a screw holding the crank to the shaft. There is no other choice.

It definitely has the captive portion on the insert. I suppose it is just corroded on there from forever ago.
I actually tackled the other opposite side last night and guess what...that one had a screw. Easy! Ill try again tonight. Thanks for the input guys

FYI... I ended up using a gear puller and it popped right off.
