Best $10 I ever spent on the beast
I changed my shift linkage bushings on my '69 230/8 last night.
The old ones were not just worn but missing. They were down to the metal hub at the rod and the metal cladding at the transmission lever, no rubber. Now I don't have to lean right to get it into 3rd and everything has a precise feel. At $3.30 each Canadian and 1/2 hour of my time, it was one of the more satisfying repairs I've done. However, I still haven't corrected the reason for looking in that area, I was expecting to find a seal to change at the selector shafts but it appears there is only the shaft bushing. Does anyone know how involved it will be to pull the cover and disassemble to try and reseal this area? Mark |
