W115 Cupholders...

My current system involves wedging a Starbucks Venti coffee cup underneath the ashtray handle. That worked great, until it didn't.

Is there a more elegant solution out there?

The dealers would install a cupholder that folded up on the door. I don't know when these first became available but I have seen a lot of 123's with these devices and also a few 115's. They are easy to install but you must be careful not to use screws that are so long they contact the glass as it moves up and down.

I am planning to make a cup holder insert for the tray area just behind the shift housing - though I like your temporary wedge fit, I have yet to try that one! Cup holder has been high on the list too!

On the W201 cars I stick my drink in the seat adjuster handle, I'd have to look at my 115 to see if there is a similar amount of room there. I'll have to take a picture to show you, I can't think of a good way to describe it other than that.

Think of all the money will save when you can get a Grande or a Tall, with a new cupholder solution. Or how powerful you'll feel knowing in the summer Trenta will now be an option.

Got wood?

Our Finnie is older and has a generous tray inbetween the seats. We took a few Starbucks cups for dimensions and went to work in wood. It works great although some water bottles don't fit. But they have screw caps. Made a slot for our iPhones too.

Thanks for the tips.

I'll report back if I get a chance to cook something up.
