1956 300SL Gullwing

Yesterday I finished this painting of another classic Benz. The original is an 18" x 24" watercolor.

Thomas,

This painting is absolutely beautiful! I would love to have a color print of it for my study. I have the perfect place for it as classic car artwork is something I really appreciate and enjoy. My wife decorated our home and there's really only one room in the house that's truly "mine" as far as decorating, so my study is adorned with pictures of classic cars from the '30's, 40's, 50's and early 60's. It turned out to be a fair trade as I got the newly constructed (at the time) three car garage. She hasn't been able to park in it since! Your artwork is truly exceptional!

Dee8go: I continue to enjoy your work. I realize I may not have mentioned to you specifically that I have been painting car for many years also, but removed the link from my signature when I started promoting The Coupe Group. I'd love to share my work with you too.
Have you always worked in watercolor? That process is so specific, how did you start, landscapes or jumped right into cars? I prefer acrylic and have done some work digitally, but do still prefer getting my fingers stained and making a mess, something about men never truly growing up I suppose. It's all fingerpainting at the end of the day, no?

Enjoy! MarrsCars.com

This summer I plan to get more involved in automotive sculpture, I don't yet know what I will cast in yet but I tend to like smaller scale scenes with a touch of background present. Most of these on the market today are racing inspired, perhaps an over represented field, so I'd like to focus on the road cars many of us drive here on the vintage forum.

Thanks, Maars. I like yours, too. What is your medium? Are they computer graphics or air brush? I'd like to talk to you about the business/web site aspects of what you're doing sometime, as I'm looking into doing something like that myself.

Hello, they are almost all acrylic with some various elements such as silver leaf on some like the James Dean crash car, the whole piece shines in sunlight. Yes, airbrush on some as you noticed (the Green Hornet car) and I have only used digital for the "Album Cover" series, that was something new that I enjoyed but not nearly as much fun as paint, I need hands on.

I am available to you anytime to give advice and suggestions for a website, just drop me a PM when you're ready and I'll share as much info as you care to hear. It makes me quite happy to see others explore their natural talents.

I like your work enough to enquire about how the paintings hold up over time from UV rays and atmospheric conditions?

Further, is there a way to obtain prints of your work to display in my residence. for a fee of some sort?

Joe, they are painted with watercolors, which are pure pigments, on 100% cotton rag paper. That is about as archival as you can get. I am presently working on getting high resolution copies made of these paintings that I can make available for purchase. So, once I have that done, I will let folks here and elsewhere know about it.

Thank you for your inquiry and for your interest.
