I recently installed a Pertronix electronic ignition module with a 40,000 volt Pertronix coil in my 1963 220SEB Cabriolet. It was hooked up to run through the resistor block before the coil. It has the original six cylinder M127 engine in it. My new problem is that it runs smooth as a fine clock until reaching 4000 RPM and then it starts sputtering. It only does it during acceleration with a load on it. If I run it up standing still to 5000 RPM it doesn't hesitate. It didn't do this before I gutted the distributor of its original points and condensor system. Anyone have any ideas on what has happened? Is the coil putting out to much voltage under acceleration for the original wires or is it something unrelated to the ignition? Anyone else done the Petronix conversion?

I have the Pertronix and don't go through a ballast resistor. Randy Durrance is the expert on these systems and rebuilt my distributor with a Pertronix conversion kit. Check with Randy at wdurrance@aol.com.
