Vacuum line restoration

Is there a way to get the metal connector on a vac line off the old one and on new line (or is there a place to buy this new)?

I kind of hate using a rubber tubing bridge method (looks bootleg-ish). Or why not simply re-coat old line with plasti-dip or something similar?

I wonder how it was done originally.

I think the metal thing is a compression fitting, made for one-time use as it shrinks onto the tubing when the fitting is tightened. They sell these at generic auto parts stores in the hardware section, but all the ones I saw were the wrong size.

That looks like the line for a distributor vacuum advance. I was going to replace the vacuum line on the 220S, but it had one of those metal beads at the end of the line, and I would need to add one to the end of the new line.

If you live in a large city then visit an industrial supply place that sell valves and fittings. Most of them have a City Sales desk where anyone can walk in, present their problem, and the desk guys will try to deal with it.

And I have found that if they cannot help you they will know who can.

This involves a bit of running around, but you will finally wind up with just what you are needing.

I guess this line for my diz vac advance was never mass produced (such a pity). Maybe I'll troll around industrial supply websites/stores and see if I get any hits.

I do have a spare old one (as well as new stand alone tubing). Will make do for now.

I was looking for those parts myself, the compression fitting and the threaded nut. Tom at the Classic Parts Center had them and they were inexpensive.
