Interior trim, dash, and console: vinyl or plastic? (w115)

Hi-
Hope I am not over my quote for new threads. I am slowly converting my interior from brown to black. I had picked up a parts car with a decent black interior, but it turns out that some of the interior trim parts attach differently in a 1973 w114 (hidden slots and clips) than in my 1968 w115 (visible screws). So, I am now considering painting some of my brown interior parts to be black.

I plan to use SEM color coat "landau black." Their prep method differs depending on whether the material being painted is vinyl or plastic. Does anyone know what the main visible surface of these interior parts is made of (vinyl or plastic?):
1. dashboard including the more vertical parts
2. center display where the radio and hazard flasher sits
3. center console
4. A-pillar trim (the surface appears well integrated with the structure)
5. B-pillar trim (the surface appears to be a thin sheet material, not well integrated with the structure)
6. Trim along top of front windshield (it is similar to the A-pillar trim)

Perhaps they are all the same material, but I thought I would try to be clear about exactly which parts may end up being painted someday.

Thank you.

1. vinyl
2. vinyl
3. vinyl
4. vinyl
5. not sure, but it's vinyl on the W123, W126, W124, etc.
6. vinyl

In general, if it's a 'soft' material, it's vinyl.

Jim

Thanks Jim.

One of the lessons in all this for me has been how much the small details change even during a single model run. Every piece of trim attaches in my 1968 differently than in a 1973, which I didn't expect. But nothing a little paint cannot fix. Thanks again.
