Lubricating Sunroof

Hi guys,

Since it got cold(ish) here in Florida, my car's sunroof doesn't open all the way in the morning. Once the day warms up, it works OK.

How do I lubricate the sunroof?

Jose

Dealers have special lube, but don't sell it in small quantities. Someone does - mercedes sauce is a clue http://tinyurl.com/q4qjztc

I lubed mine with a marine product called McLube Sailkote. It is a dry lube and won't pick up grit like the grease types would. My two sunroofs have move smoothly since I applied that lube. Must do them again in Spring (we are in cold north!)

Mercedes is making sauce now?

Kidding aside, Rusty used to sell the dealer lube in small quantities. Now that he's gone , I'm glad to know about these other options. I have 3 sunroofs that need to be lubed.

Lubricating Sunroof

You don't have to but the whole can now. These folks will sell you half an ounce.

Guys, thanks for your replies!

Graham, I looked at a video on Mercedes Source where he explains the basics of lubricating the sunroof. Mine has the exact symptoms of a clogged cable, so the whole thing needs to come out. It's going on the full weekend project list

Thank goodness the 65 degree "cold front" passed and we're back in the 80s. Sunroof running smooth again!

Wish we had that sort of weather! Mind you, we are heading South in a couple of weeks!
