300D will not stay running

Hi
I have a 1976 300d. I finally got it running tonight off a fuel cell. It was running rough at idle but sounded smoother when revving, I recently cleaned out the fuel system and changed the filters and put in a different tank because the stock tank was rusty and rough. Tonight I took it around the block a few times and it seemed to bog down a lot going uphill. Finally it bogged down and died. Had to tow home. Still fires, wont run. There is no fuel coming out of the return line at all, bone dry. Could this be the issue? what other things should I look for?
Any help is greatly appreciated
I don't know what I am doing and this car beating me
Thanks

Sounds like fuel starvation. I'd dig around in the forums via search. You'll find all kinds of things to check and do.

Are you reviving a car that's been sitting around for a while? Got pics of your new tank setup?

are you getting fuel to the fuel rail ( not return lines?) if not check filters again and free flow from there. Is you vacuum pull off working at the injector pump? If faulty it will not allow fuel flow

I am getting fuel to the hard lines, but i havent checked the fuel pressure. I will take a picture of the setup tonight after work. I will also search low fuel pressure in the forums. One thing I'm thinking might be a problem is the valve before the return line.
