Cognac leather
I have been unable to find any truly good match for the original "two tone" cognac leather that Mercedes used in the 1960s and early 70s. the two tone effect was evidently done by stencilling dyeing the darker color over the lighter base.
Has anyone found the right stuff?

Since you have been at this a while, could you post all the sources you have tried? That way, people don't spend time telling you things you already know. And it will help future folks in the same situation.
Thanks.

Roy, have you tried KHM? Might be worth a shot.

In addition to the above noted German supplier, I've tried Millers Mercedes parts in Fountain Valley, CA, World Upholstery in Santa Paula, CA, and Veteran Company in LA. All were pretty close, with the "nod" going to the Veteran's sample, but none have the degree ofcontrast between light and dark tones as the original.

Just to be sure we are all talking about the same thing, here are the only pictures I could quickly find of the interior on my 1972 280 SE 4.5.
Both pictures were used in other M-B posts, one to illustrate the original orientation of the shoulder/lap belt and the other to show the trim surrounding the rear window shelf. |

I would offer you to try Bud Benz in Georgia. Just like the name and add a dot com. I have found very good quality and matching in the past - unfortunately with no experience in Cognac. Beautiful interior, I can see why you are striving for perfection.

I know this might be obvious but have you tried the Classic Center?
