W115 Question

can you fit the chrome surround rear lights w114 type to a later w115 and is it as easy as to remove the plastic lens to fit the chrome one ?

Thanks in advance

Parts book shows different reflectors and gaskets that correspond to each style lens. Looks like the housing is the same, though.

I've not but it can be done. The opening in the body is the same. The wiring connection on the housing is the same. My '73 has the later style ribbed lights, so it was converted to the newer ones at some point.

Who knows, you might be able to get the lens and reflector assembly and make the other seals work. They all look the same in the book but the drawings aren't detailed enough to show the differences.

Yes, but you must change the entire assembly. Bucket, chrome, gasket and lens.

Plug and play if you have the complete lamp.

Only hang up is late lamps on early chrome bumper cars with bumper guards.
The late lens hangs up on the guard and you have to drop the bumper to remove it.

Jim, I don't think Europe got the safety bumpers.
