Hello Peaches,

Good news! I have a Booster rebuild kit on the way.

Stretch was especially helpful in locating a supplier who stocks the seal. My kit supplier is going to buy a quantity so they will be available here in the USA.

On a related note: Has anyone bought one of these or have an opinion?
Cardone rebuilt brake booster. The listing says it fits 1971 111

Hi Tony,

I am willing to share my thoughts.

The ad copy says they have been in business for 40 years. That inspires my confidence. They are new to eBay since June 2015, but so far all feedback positive.

The price is competitive with what I paid just for a rebuild kit. Their brake booster looks clean and comes with a one-year warranty. The math in my mind concludes they are earning $135.00 in revenue with costs for labor and parts leaving a gross profit between $50 to $80? It would be worth $50 to $80 to have my brake booster rebuilt and cleaned looking brand new. My work space does not get dirty, I don't get dirty, five hours of time to spend doing something else; what is that worth?

The unknown in my calculation is the amount of time and money involved in sending the core back to Cardone to receive the $50.00 core deposit. If it takes me an hour to pack the brake booster, drive round trip somewhere to drop off, and pay for the shipping, then it might cost me $20.00 to $50.00 to get the $50.00 core charge??

Cardone is a known rebuilder, one of the few that still exists. Rebuilders have been closing because the cost of manufacturing new parts has continued to go down making new parts more cost competitive. Cardone seems to be filling the specialty market where new is too costly or can't be found.

Rebuilt master cylinders tend to have a rough bore that leads to early seal wear so I'd consider taking it apart for inspection / polishing the bore.

I have a new OE master cylinder so no problem there-I just wondered if anyone had an experience-good or bad-with Cardone. The price seems very reasonable.

In the Toyota world Cardone is recognized as a quality rebuilder. I've used their rebuilt components with success in the various Toyota trucks and Land Cruisers I've had over the years.
