They are another part that makes idle smoother. If your idle isn't lumpy inside the car, they're likely just fine. If you can see the engine rock in the bay during idle and it doesn't rock the car, chances are the mounts and dampers are in good order.

Cool Thanks Tomguy! Ya i think they're just fine. no lumpy idle. I ordered my subframe mounts and engine mounts. fingers crossed. i hope that helps the high speed droning.

Is anyone familiar with a brand of engine mounts called Pheonix? Claim to be "OEM" parts. Can be found for a good price, and the only non "Uro" brand alternative I could locate. There seem to be no Meistersatz parts available in the U.S.

Problem solved!
Finally got my ride back from the shop. the motor mounts and subframe mounts were totally shot. no more high speed vibration and noise making its way into the cabin. now its gliding like a mercedes should. the difference is night and day. I can actually have a conversation in the car without shouting. also got my bushings replaced in the steering coupling. no more steering wheel play. now i can enjoy the drive. |

Well that was extravagance! I'm sure you could have gotten a few more miles out of those...
