Hey guys
New to the forum here but I have a 1963 220sb Fintail that I have had for the past 7 years. Attained her through my grandmother who was the second owner of the car in the late 70s she drove it as a second car every now and then until 2000. Then it was parked garage kept till 2009 when I got it from her, she was just going to donate it. So I took it over paid some back fees due as she never non oped it, so $800 later was the new owner of the fintail unfortunately I had to park her in my back yard on the side of the house for a year due to I was living with my parents at the time, even with a really nice cover the dash upholstery got messed up from the sun and heat along with the top of the rear seat but then finally had the carbs rebuilt changed the normal maintenance stuff plugs wires fluids and she fired right up. I don't have any info on the first owner besides its been a Southern California. Drove her for about 4 years. Then had an unfortunate incident happen in are garage a couple of are rafters broke and busted the windshields the rear completely and a cracked front. So that set me back awhile cuz I just got married had a lil one so didn't really have the time or the money to spend $1,500 on glass and seals. So decided to just strip the whole interior to metal to make sure no rust and all that and re stain the all the wood trim and polish all the dash chrome. So a couple years later(3/2016) met some one who had a parts car here locally and sold me the rear and the front for $150 bucks. So just installed those a few days ago myself. Now just got to assemble and hook all the instruments back up to have her drivable again. Attached are a few pics of when I first got her running and driving and now of the interior I have to put back together. she is a real beauty, love the color . Your journey looks to be involved, but step by step these ol gals are a dream come true !

Does anyone know how to get the workshop manual to work on you computer?
I've tried everything and can't get it to work. Keeps saying I need adobe reader 4 even after I install it. I'm on windows 10

Hi Adrian,

I have had the same problem with the Classic Center software. The installation of the interface is not going to work on XP or Vista, and you confirm not on Windows 10. I copied the files to my hard drive and opened the individual .PDF files to view the information. The interface that doesn't work served by using internet explorer "stone age edition" to show the organization and titles of the PDF documents and Adobe Reader V.4 to open the files. Any version of Adobe Reader will open the PDF files. The amateur who wrote the interface should not have limited the browser and versions of Adobe Reader.

An alternative to looking at the individual .PDF files would be running the CD on a virtual machine using a software called VMware. The workshop manuals that sell on eBay for less than $20.00 uses VMware to run Mercedes modern workshop manual, it would also be able to run Adobe Reader v.4 and Internet Explorer v.Stone Age.

I am happy that you joined us on the forum. Let me know if you can copy the files from the CD to your hard drive and open one of the individual PDF files. The people who were active on this forum helped me when I was the new guy. Someday you will be the one sharing your experience and wisdom.

I cant believe your grandma was just going to give that car away to charity!!! Well its a good thing you got your hands on it before that happened. Sucks to hear about the windshields getting broken by a garage cave-in. I had a similar thing happen in my old house when the garage was filled with vintage motorcycles. The damage wasn't too terrible, but still sucks to deal with the aftermath, and finding parts for old vehicles that have been out of production for decades. As a side not, I had no idea that the windshield glass for those cars were so horrendously expensive! That almost sounds so over the top as to not be believable, but then again i've not priced glass for anything older than a W123.

Anyway, congrats on the car, that is about the best looking car M-B ever produced, in my opinion.

Beautiful car. I have a 63 also. You might want to get your hands on the Big Blue Book, a.k.a. Service Manual Maintenance, Tuning, Unit Replacement Passenger Cars starting August 1959. It's way better than the CD. You can find them on ebay or on the forums for anywhere from $50 to $250...

Where are you located?

I have a copy of that manual for sale if you want. It was mistakenly included with my 76. It's really cool to look through but there is little to no info for me in there.
