Steering Coupler

That steering coupler is repairable and the last time i checked the parts were available from MB.

You'll need:

2 111-462-01-65 rubber bushing
2 111-990-30-40 washer
2 912002 010001 lock clip
2 900055 010000 spring washer

Hope this helps.
John

Making progress changed out one front shock, got side tracked when I found a little rust to deal with. Minimal but needed fixed. While I let the POR15 dry I decided to try to remove some dash wood. Well a few hours later most was removed ,all looks like I will be able to refinish. Problem tho is the dash pad. It literally disintegrated with every screw I removed. Now I am in a it if a twist. Not sure how to retrofit something that will resemble a dash pad. Anyone have an extra lying about ? I'll keep my eye open on eBay but I don't recall ever seeing one May have to get creative All suggestions welcome:

Hey Graham, indeed, always wanted a Finny , you may remember, so this too will be a labor of love. I may actually keep this one ! Not missing all my Djet woes from my W107 , but use the knowledge ( you taught me ) quite a bit ! Carbs are much easier !

Just curious why the motor mount job was difficult? Getting ready to replace those, looks like it should be easy with unrestricted access.

mine were so far gone that I had to raise the engine a bit more than normal to get access to release them . that caused the engine to shift a bit. I was by myself so lining up the bolt holes on the way back down was not easy. With a helper it would have been easier ( lesson learned ) but you are correct , pretty straight forward process. The replacements may not be of the same underside configuration , but they will work with a bolt you will need to fit to hold the bottom plate on. You will see what I mean when you get there

Tell me more about the filler and any glue you used please! I have a similar problem with my Land Rover steering wheel.

If you need European help with a dash send me a PM / email - but remember postage / shipping will be a bugger.

Wow! Brilliant job on the steering wheel. There's a place in CA that redoes dashes' World Upholstery. Haven't seen their work though
