W108 Rockers?
Hi all,
I recently acquired a 1968 280S that runs but does need some body work. Most notably, the rocker panels are just about gone. I have bought rockers from Eckler's for my 1984 240D and was pleased with them. Does anyone know if these will fit my 1968 w108?: Mercedes® W114, W115 200, 220, 230, 240, 250, 280 Rocker Panel, Right, 1968-1975 - Mercedes Parts and Accessories I am not sure, as it does say that these will fit a 1968 280S, but at the same time, it says nothing about W108's, it only mentions W114/W115. I recognize that this is a sponsored site, but felt it was appropriate to post the link I did, as I am asking about a part that I could not find on Pelican's site. If my post in any way violates any forum rules, mods please remove it. Thanks in advance for any replies, Bryan

No, you need 108 specific rockers (SWB, so 109 won't work nor will 108 SEL unless you want to cut them). Those are for the 114/115 chassis only.

Thank you for the reply.
Do you have any idea if and where replacement 108 rockers can be sourced? Thanks again, Bryan

I would not be shocked if these are not being produced, as there were almost 10x as many 123's and almost 10x as many 114/115's made than 108's.

Perhaps donor rockers from a solid car that got hit in the font or rear end would be the ticket.

I would love to find donor rockers, but I have a fat chance of doing so up here in salty Northeast Vermont. I have been casually looking though.

Is the 280SEL the only 108 that has a longer wheelbase than the 280S? So all 108 250's and 280's (with the exception of the SEL) have the same rockers?

That's correct. "SEL" designates a longer chassis.

The SEL also has longer rear doors and a longer drip rail above the doors.
I would guess you could also say it has longer door sills but think that is about it? Besides different rear window regulators and door glass? |
