1975 W114 fuel pump
Hello all,
I'm new to Mercedes and the forum, so please be gentle! Lol... I recently bought a 1975 280 W114.060 with 110.921 engine that is now getting some much-deserved TLC. I've found that there is oil coming out of the weep hole on the mechanical fuel pump. This car has a smog pump and I've learned that this requires a lever-type fuel pump to fit. A replacement pump seems to be a dealer-only item (at around $370). It's a Pierburg E3000-12084/APG. Does anyone have a less-expensive source for these? I can find tons of the "piston-type" pumps, but these won't work here. I've been entertaining installing an electrical pump, but I'd rather keep things stock. Anyone else had to deal with this? Thanks! - Greg |
Greg, have you checked the link on top of this page??

Al,
Absolutely! I've checked with a number of parts suppliers and they all seem to only sell the piston-actuated type of pump. I need the lever-type. Here is what mine looks like... |

Does VA still require emissions equipment checks for 1975 vehicles? If not, remove the air pump, and use the straight fuel pump. |
No, they don't, but I'm one of those guys who likes to make everything work - stock. Besides, I've heard that because mine is a lever pump and the other one is piston, that I can't just use the other one? I'm guessing that there's supposed to be something in between the pump and the block to convert the lever action to piston?

Hi Greg
I have exactly the same problem , I can not locate where to buy the fuel pump with a lever original pump is pierburg E20064 4319 could you pls advise where you could by the original pump many Thanks MS |
I'd block off the mounting at the engine and move towards a low pressure ( 2 - 3 ish PSI ) electric pump.
Carter , Facet , Airtex make solenoid pumps, just be sure to use a 2 terminal oil pressure switch so the pump stops if the engine stalls. The solenoid pumps do make a noise when pumping so attach it with soft mounts. I think you can get a low pressure motor pump these days. |

Please see the above quotes; although a conversion to an electric pump will indeed provide a source of fuel, it will also, as noted, present a noise problem. The easiest, and very likely the lowest cost, solution is to delete the air pump that is in the way of the original style, straight/piston pump, and then use the readily available straight pump. The straight pump was used in 1973-4. and can be used once the air pump is removed, contrary to rump's misinformation. |
Will the fuel pump from a M130 (that came with a smog pump) work on the M110?
|
I know this is an old thread but if you have oil coming from weep hole, remove the pump and fill the lever void with grease.
