Aux / ignition gear marks and timing.
Putting my carburated M130 (71 250). After turning it over with misfire, I swapped the plug wires around keeping them in order with cylinder 1 starting on different ports on distributor cap. It started to turn over, but not quite to idle. Realizing my Aux gear may be off, I took apart and can not find any bold marks on the gear.
If there is anyone who may be familiar with lining that gear up, it would be greatly appreciated. |

Please disregard, if anyone else has this issue -
Rotate the engine so the Cam and crank to TDC Remove the bolt on the motor below the ignition (looks like its meant to keep timing chain from jumping.) Remove the timing chain tensioner Remover Aux / ignition gear cover Get the slack on the timing chain to the drivers side of the motor Move the Aux / distributor gear so the key way is at 12oclock (take into consideration when you put tension on the chain, it will move clockwise) Put it all back together, your ignition should be firing on cylinder 1 |
