k jetronic adjust.

My local mercedes mechanic has serviced the unit and said that with engine not running no fuel should come out of the ports ( ignition on)
When the plate is gently pressed fuel should then come out.
If some of the ports dont emit fuel each one can be adjested by a 3mm hex after removing the small hex head screw next to each port.
See photo.
Please advise on this if you can. My local mechanic is Thai and comm's can sometimes be confusing.

Lots of people lean them out while running until the engine stumbles, at which point you can enrich it by 1/8 turn or so. Lefty leany, righty richy.

I take it you are talking about the individual adjusters next to each injector port on the distributor.

Please resist any instructions and/or urges to mess with the individual adjustments. Those adjustment provisions are for the purpose of matching the flows of the valves inside the fuel distributor (FD).

fonzi's reference is to the overall adjustment located in the tower between the air flow meter and the FD.

Ok thanks. That is a good answer. The plan now is to refit the unit get the engine running and let the guy who rebuilt the unit do the final tuning.

Oh. I didn't realize this was about the individual injector adjustments. Interesting. Thanks for the lesson.

Any use to you Andy

Yes thanks.
The biggest stumbling block was my problem trying to work around D jet until I realised it was K jet.
My mechanic was amused, I was red faced.
Plan now is tomorrow after the unit is back in place there will be 3 of us. One on the ignition key for on/off. Me on the FD with spanner and one with the fire extinguishers on hand.
All joints checked and then ignition on. Check for leaks. Gently loosen each outlet and check for no gasoline feed, engine not started.
Gently depress the air sensor plate and slowly loosen ports one at a time to check for gas.
If they all show gas then switch off go for a coffee sacrifice a couple of pigs then go for engine start.

If the FD has not been in use for a while, do not be concerned if there is not equal flow, or even no flow at one or more ports. On any given cylinder, either, or both, the metering slot and/or the upper chamber valve may be temporarily blocked or sticking.

If you PM me your email , I can send you some good Kjet info on tuning and troubleshooting

andyslc 03-06-2017 08:06 PM

Thanks for all the answers. The unit has been cleaned out during the service so should be working as intended. All the filters cleaned/replaced from the gas tank to engine and lines blown through.
Will post again at the end of the day. It's first coffee of the day time hear at the moment and a pleasant 22 degrees C.

Today was the day. All the final connections were made, fuel checked etc etc.
Switched on the ignition and turned the key.
She turned over for about 3 or 4 second and then started. Stuttered for another 3 or 4 seconds then settled down to a lovely even tick over. A little bit fast but very even. Oil pressure guage reading max on the guage so seems fine for the moment.
Exhaust system was smoked a bit but that was from oil etc and new silver paint coating but no smoke blue or black coming from the outlet.
Slight tapping from valves but that went quiet after a minute or so after the oil got it's way around the system fully after a year of no movement.
So tonight will be a quiet beer, followed by a noisy 6 or 7.😆
