220D Front Wheel Bearings

Hello,
A few questions,

1) What is the correct installed orientation of the front bearing seal shown in the picture?

2) I have one odd shaped washer on the left front but not on the right front. Is this needed and if so is a new one available?

Car is a 72 220D

thanks

With seals, the lip should face towards whatever you want to keep from passing through. In this case, towards the grease. Many seals have a smaller lip facing the other way that is just to keep dirt away from the main sealing lip.

The blue seal looks like the side facing up should go towards the hub since there appears to be an outer ring that would prevent the seal from being installed the other way round.

The tri star washer went through an outer bearing failure as evidenced by the groove on the face. You could flip it over so the side facing up is against the nut.

The pic above shows a double sealed inner bearing, this is really uncommon for most systems ( I've seen it on some 60's forklifts ) and not on any car I've seen.

The side of the seal in your photo goes against the bearing.
