Where to find vacuum pump diaphragm for '65 190D Heckflosse
Asking for a friend
He has a '65 190D Heckflosse with a torn vacuum pump diaphragm, and it's causing oil to get sucked up and burned. He's searched high and low, contacted the classics center, etc. No dice. Anyone have any ideas?

Would it be possible to replace the vacuum pump with one from a later car?

I'd suggest cutting one to fit from sheet rubber such as a motorcycle inner tube, which should last for several weeks until he can find the genuine article

That won't stand up to oil.
Type this into the Google machine fabric reinforced rubber sheet |

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll pass them along and look into them. One thing of concern to me is that he tells me that there is sort of a cup-shaped indentation in the center of the original diaphragm that would be tough to reproduce. I haven't actually seen it with my own eyes yet, or figured out how the whole thing works to suss out any suitable substitution.
I'm not even sure if this part is available anymore, he may have to fabricate one. Thanks for the lead on the engineered rubber sheet, I found some promising sounding cloth reinforced neoprene sheeting. One problem for this poor guy is that this car is his daily driver(!) and so tearing into the job means he is stranded until he puts it all back together.

Also, have a look at a material comparability chart to find rubber that will stand up to oil.

Just read post 5 , perhaps he can find an electric vac pump + canister + vac switch to make a conversion.
