W112 steering box compatibity.

Hi everyone. I've found a used power steering box from a 1971 w108.
Is this box compatible/interchangeable with my 1966 w112.
Both right hand drive cars.
Thanks for any info.

Maybe.
The part numbers are likely different, but as long as the box physically fits, it will work.
For physical fit, the inlet, outlet, drag link and mounting points all need to be the same.

As long as it fits, since w112 boxes are presumably unobtanium, I'd find a way to make it work, and hold on to the original w112 box to see if someone can rebuild it down the road, as the w108 box will likely be leaking. These boxes start leaking around 15-20 years of age, nevermind 40+.

Thanks for that. The seller has just confirmed that he thinks they're the same, and that he'd be happy to take it back. So I've bought it. He's described it as great condition. He sells many old Mercedes parts, so hopefully he would have noticed a leaky box.

Mines been leaking for some time now and it's recently got bad, and stiff when turning right.
I'll keep the original and get it reconditioned if I can find someone that does them here in the UK.

Thanks for the help.
