W115 auto transmission tuning...

My 1976 300D has had a shift flare since I purchased it. I chanced fluid and filter, but it would still flare and I would have to lightly back off of the throttle to get it to shift sometimes.
Today I adjusted the linkage rod from throttle to transmission by lengthening its throw. Only about 4 threads worth, but the difference is profound. Firmer shifts and no more flare! It's always nice when a 5 minute fix makes such a difference.
