Screen seal rubbers
Hi, I am wrestling (almost literally) with a new rear screen rubber for my coupe. It seems to be covered in a sort of white waxy material, that is unsightly and makes the job a right pita. I can scrape it off with my finger on the outside, but cannot get it out of the grroves. Does anyone know what this coating is and how to get rid of it? Thanks.

First thing I would try is hot soapy water in a bucket. If that works then lightly oil with some very light oil.
Re-fitting the rear glass on my 75 SLC we eventually worked out it's better to fit the rubber to the glass then fit the chrome alloy to the rubber then fit the whole thing to the car. Have at least two friends to help. I suppose it depends on what model though. |
