HELP!
I'm looking for a Hazet 2770-4 in order to adjust my valves. It appears that a 2770-3 would also work with the help of a grinder on the bottom portion of the wrench. Looking to buy, rent, trade, or borrow. I will only need it once since I'm planning on selling the car in the Spring. Thank You, Pat Smith 510-579-1887 patsmith45@comcast.net |

Hey Pat,
A 17mm crowsfoot wrench will work for this job. You don't need to buy or borrow the special tool, unless you need to check / verify ball stud torque values, which if you just want to adjust and plan on selling, there would be no need I imagine. The special tool re-centers your torque wrench and a crowsfoot does not. Otherwise, the crowsfoot will do the job. I recommend one that looks like an open-end wrench, ex: https://www.harborfreight.com/7-piece-3-8-eighth-inch-crowfoot-metric-wrench-set-94427.html Versus a flare nut wrench, ex: https://www.harborfreight.com/38-in-metric-crowfoot-flare-nut-wrench-set-7-pc-68999.html The flare type must be put on from the top which is not possible without rocker removal. The flat type can be put on from the side.

Use caution-the ball studs are VERY tight and will readily round off. Even off the car with a socket on them they are difficult to turn.
