'74 D Jet 450sel Injector Trigger Point connector wiring

Hi all.

I went to install new points and realized that the five-pin connector is really corroded.

I removed them once to inspect and found my car doesn't run with the new points after replacing.

Can anyone here confirm the wiring is correct on my connector? I don't want to swap any leads and accidentally fry something

I have the same 74 450 and I went down to take a look but I cant get the rubber cover off to see the wires. Did you cut the cover off? If not what did you do to access the back of the plug. I have a spare set of trigger points in my barn I might cut those if you dont find the info you need on the post panda sent you. By the way thanks for posting, my contacts were corroded I cleaned them and will take the 450 out for a spin tomorrow to see if it helped the rough running at higher rpms. Just pm me.

Post #10 in this BW thread shows the connections.

Refit of D-Jet Pulse Generator - Mercedes-Benz Forum

Cushjbc rebuilds djet harnesses. If anyone knows how that connector is wired, it his Brad. I believe his own car uses that connector.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm still hesitant to follow those pictures because they all seem to be for the earlier Trigger Points.

I have the last version of the Trigger Points with the permanent connection into the points and the six-inch wire that you cannot disconnect from the points. It's found on later 107s too.

The wiring seems to be different and I don't want to try it and kill something. I will message Brad though!a

Hi nostat.

It's a plastic connector cap that is held down by two plastic snap-clips on the metal bracket. I used a flat-head just to slightly bend them. Be careful as the plastic could be brittle. Thankfully on mine it still had give and wasn't fragile.

I believe all 107 Djets starting toward very end of the 73 models have that type. Only the 72s and earlier 73 107s have the plug on the side of the distributor. Sedans may have changed at a different time.

In any event, Brad is your best source for confirmation of the pin layout.

Pin bushings from the engine harness meet pins from the pulse generator (trigger points). Locations are embossed on both the male and female connector bodies but it must be clean to read them.

1 - yellow/red - terminal 21 - cylinders 2/7
2 - yellow/black - terminal 12 (ground)
3 - yellow/green - terminal 14 - cylinders 3/6
4 - yellow/blue - terminal 22 - cylinders 4/8
5 - empty
6 - yellow/white - terminal 13 - cylinders 1/5

I upgraded my old plug to the new, because I got a set of the new points . I think if you look in my thread it may address that, I have slept since then

Thanks Brad. Same as your picture in BW post#10 linked to in post #4 above.

The information presented in post #7 and quoted in post #10 is completely wrong. We now have an accurate ECU schematic capable of running a simulation that closely resembles actual ECU signals that proves this.

The actual PG to Injector Group relationship is attached.
